FAQs
What is a professional fitting?
A professional fit is completed by a person qualified in the science of
fitting and uses the correct tools, working with the athlete to achieve a
perfect fit for the frame and components to suit the rider (not the other
way around).
The process usually takes two to three hours, which includes:
- an extensive interview to determine riding style and goals;
- skeletal measurements;
- flexibility measurements;
- measuring the rider's current bicycle;
- adjustments using the Serotta Size Cycle that is connected to a Computrainer;
- recommendations for adjustments to current bike, or measurements for
a custom bike.
The rider's position is altered to generate the highest bio-mechanical power
output and efficiency, while at the same time maintaining comfort. We look
at the body of a cyclist as a series of kinetic links, with the foot as the
foundation.
The process starts at the foot and works its way to the ankle, knee, hip,
back, neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist and ending up at the hands to make sure
each is in the right place for both comfort and power. It is important to
have constant feedback between the cyclist and the fit technician to get
the most out of the session.
Why book an appointment?
Ace Custom Cycles is a “by appointment” cycling studio. We
highly recommend that you make an appointment in advance. We make every effort
to accomodate walk-in requests, but seldom are able due to our committment
to prior appointments.
A fit consultation in an intensive process and by booking an appointment,
it allows the fit technician to focus solely on your needs, without interruptions.
Your
time is valuable, and we honour that by giving you our undivided and uninterrupted
attention.
What type of training do you have?
Ace Custom Cycles has a Serotta trained fit specialist.
Serotta made a decision to lead the industry with the Serotta Bike
Fit Program. These are the first courses designed to train shop employees
in the art and science of correct fit. The classes draw on a culmination
of ongoing research and techniques compiled by our own experiences along
with the expertise of the top specialists in the country. They take the student
through a detailed step by step approach to professionally fitting any cyclist.
At the completion of each course, the technician will leave with the skills
and confidence to succeed at their fitting challenges and receive a Serotta "Trained
Fit Specialist" diploma.
Payment Options
Ace Custom Cycles accepts cash, debit, Mastercard, Visa and American Express
using a secure system.
